There is no question that our notion of how to protect ourselves from the rain and other elements has come from the shape of mushroom caps. This can easily be seen, without using a thousand words, in the form of many mushrooms.
There are also many examples of how they have shaped our notion of roofline esthetics. A good example of this is the iconic Asian "pagoda" roof design.
